Since its official opening in spring of 1967, coinciding with the World Fair, Camping Wigwam never stopped growing. This enterprise, which was seasonal at the beginning, started to plough the soil and planting beautiful fir trees and building sites for campers who would stay one or two days.
With the years, the growing demand for camping sites offering three services (water, electricity and sewers) takes fullness and thus starts a new generation of
campers owning trailer tents, trailers and fifth wheels wanting to settle on a site for a full season. This is the beginning of seasonal camping.
The success of the enterprise is due in part to its concept. The new owners are counting on family atmosphere and on a variety of services and attractions, this by adding new infrastuctures, water games, playgrounds, a new pool, a whirlpool and a modular house park offering a stay for annual residents.
Because of all those improvements and the quality of its services that Camping Wigwam won for two consecutive years "Le Grand Prix" D'Excellence, choix du public, Province de Quebec" in 1999 and 2000. Camping Wigwam also won "Prix D'Excellence Vente et Detail 2007" at the Gala Distinction of the Acton Vale's Chamber of Commerce.
Needless to say that these honors reflect the response of campers, the first one being the Grand Prize of Excellence and the second Grand prize was awarded by popular vote of merchants.
Jacques and Marise made big changes and investments to improve services that are offered by building a new restaurant with a terrace, corner store, ice cream parlor and new chalets (summer houses). They owe their success to their children Marie-Michelle and Carol-Ann and the whole team that through the years came to strengthen the business.
This business employs 20 regular employees and ten seasonals. Marise and Jacques' team like to greet their customers in a lively way. They like to joke around and a lot of anecdotes are gathering around. Camping Wigwam is a regional business that adapts easily and is looking for new challenges. It's a place where people meet and feel at home.
